The Big Move

Will is just shy of 2 years old and has officially made the transition from crib to toddler bed! One night last week Will tumbled out of his crib. We're pretty sure he accidentally fell out since it was in the middle of the night. I would think if he was going to try climbing out he would do it during naptime or right when we put him in bed at night, not at about 3 o'clock in the morning. Either way, it was time to make the transition, so when Billy got home from work on Friday he and Will turned his crib into a toddler bed.

Overall the weekend transition went better than expected. The first night we only had to go tell him to get back into bed a couple times. Naptime the next day was a little harder--about 10 times. But since then we've only gone up once or twice and I didn't have to go up at all during naptime today. It might be too early to declare success, but we're definitely headed in the right direction. Now to figure out how to get him to stay in bed past 6 o'clock in the morning...

Will's big boy bed

It's so bittersweet to watch your firstborn hit milestones--we're trying our best to savor the moments (good and bad) because before we know it he'll be starting school, learning to drive, and leaving for college! (sniffle, sniffle)

Enough sappiness from me... We hadn't been to the Zoo since right before Cate was born so Saturday morning we loaded up the kids and the double stroller and headed down there. The great thing about our family membership is being able to take lots of two hour trips for one pretty low price (which includes parking). With a toddler and a baby, short trips to the zoo are key. We spent the rest of the weekend watching football, trying out new recipes (Italian beef sandwiches and banana bread--both were so yummy!), walking Laney, going to church, and resting and relaxing. Here's a picture of Will and Cate during Cate's first trip to the zoo.

  1. Yea for the big boy bed! I will be doing the same thing next summer if I can make it that long. I want Connor in the crib as long as he can
