O-N-E!
At one year old, Cate weighs 24 pounds 2 ounces (95th percentile) and is 32 inches long (>95th percentile). Her head circumference is 18 1/2 inches (95th percentile). She is wearing 12-18 months clothes and size 4 diapers. She is pretty much eating what the rest of the family eats (supplemented with a little baby food and baby cereal here and there). Her bottles are now filled with whole milk, and next week we will start transitioning her off of bottles and onto sippy cups for milk in addition to the water she already drinks from them. Cate will eat most foods that we put in front of her, but she seems to especially like any kind of pasta with sauce, fruits, yogurt, eggs (scrambled or boiled), and macaroni and cheese.
Cate has become a very proficient walker and likes to climb. Lately one of her favorite things to do is fall into the pillows on the bed or couch. She puts everything in her mouth, and if I turn my back for a second I usually have to fish something out of there. Our little girl has an amazing spirit. She has a strong personality and knows what she wants. With this comes a tendency to throw tantrums and be a bit of a drama queen. ;-) She keeps up with her big brother and having him around has definitely made her tougher. She loves to point and immitate, and she has recently learned how to "roar"--check out the video below:
On the morning of her birthday, Cate came downstairs and received her birthday present. Boy, does she love this car (whether it's moving or not)! I took it with us to the mall to see the duck and turtle pond later that morning, and she definitely preferred it to the stroller. Unfortunately, on the walk to the car Will decided he could not take another step and needed to be carried, so maybe that double stroller won't be going in the attic anytime soon after all...
Such a big girl!
Late Friday afternoon we headed up to Oklahoma for the weekend. On Saturday we had a little birthday party for Cate.
Our little cupcake had a pretty pink cupcake party!
Below are some pictures and short videos of Cate's Happy Birthday song and Cate eating her very first cupcake.
At first Cate just played with the icing on her cupcake, but once Billy put a little bit in her mouth, she realized how yummy it was and ate some.
By this point in the party, Cate was getting very close to naptime, but she rallied to open a couple presents before she became preoccupied with tissue paper and toys and I finished the job.
On Saturday evening, Billy, Will and the rest of the gang headed up to Bartlesville to go to the Kiddie Park. Cate and I stayed at the house since she had stayed up late the night before and we knew the crew would be home fairly late that night since it didn't even open until right around Cate's bedtime. Billy and his siblings went there as children, so it was a very special trip. I hear Will even rode a ride or two with his Great Gramma (or Kitty Momma/Momma Kitty as Will calls her).
On Sunday morning Will woke up a little sick (he's been fighting a little cold for awhile now) and his Grampa woke up with an aching back, so the two of them rested and read books (notice how Will made sure Piston the Panda had his own pillow too).
We had a great trip and are blessed to have so many people to share this milestone with (this coming weekend we'll be celebrating with my side of the family while on a little family vacation to Lake Conroe).
