Lucy turns 2 1/2
At the end of June, Miss Lucy turned 2 1/2! This kid is pretty fearless for 2 1/2 and loves swinging, slides, rides--the faster/higher the better. She loves to play and keep up with her "Will Pill" and "Tate Tate", and she loves to love on her "Emmy" (or "the baby" as she sometimes uses as in "Where's the baby" or yelling "Mom, get the baby" when Emma is about to wreck something). Her favorite show is definitely Mickey and the Roadster Racers. She enjoys swinging and sandboxes as well as dolls, princesses and dressing up her magnetic dress up dolls (she does have an odd obsession with the barbie dolls being naked). Lucy has a very natural sense of humor in her timing and delivery--she definitely keeps our family laughing. She also appreciates crude humor like saying "armpit" or "nakey" and running out of the room cackling. Her favorite pastime this summer is definitely swimming at the KayCee Pool. Between the slides and using her daddy as a human jungle gym, she is in heaven.
Lucy seems to be vying for tallest girl in our family. She is 38 1/4" tall (97th%) and weighs 36 pounds 4 ounces (91st%). She still loves her paci at nap time and bedtime and also has a coveted blanket she inherited from Will. She does not generally buck her naps and usually tells me she wants to go nap. Getting her to go to sleep at night is a whole other story. She has started coming down the stairs over and over and over again... Potty training is going equally bad (honestly, it has not really begun). I figure we'll tackle that and the paci sometime after we move and get settled. No use in even attempting either right now. Every night she prays for Miss Mona and Miss Yordanos, her teachers from school this past year and every night when someone prays for her she says "I pray for Mona Yordanos Will/Tate!" and we all get a good laugh. I'll juxtapose prayer time with her seeming draw toward all villains from "Darth Vader, he's the Dark Lord of the Sith" to Shere Khan in the new Jungle Book movie.
Overall, Lucy adds a certain spice to our family life that we simply are not complete without! :-)
