18 months

On Monday Lucy turned a year and a half. Time is flying and she'll be a big sister before we know it (although she doesn't seem to have any clue that her world as the youngest is about to change).

Recently my sister in law observed Lucy and described her as "scrappy." This is the perfect adjective for our youngest. She will do whatever it takes to keep up with Will and Cate and will not be left behind or left out. If she's not getting food put on her plate quick enough she'll lean forward and go after it. She is not too shy to grab whatever food from whatever source. If the big kids are climbing in and out of the trampoline, she's just one step behind them going head first!

Lucy is just like Will and the exact opposite of Cate at this age in that she has very few words (mama/mommy, dada/daddy, cracker). In the nicest way possible, I would describe her as more like a chimp (lots of hand gestures and grunting--a little primitive but gets her point across). She loves to wear play necklaces and bracelets or anything that can serve as either of those such as teething rings, hair bands, swim rings, etc. Lucy loves to gives people's things to them, particularly their water bottles, lovies, and shoes, even when they don't ask for them/need them.

She runs just about everywhere and can climb pretty darn well. She can also give one mean look when she wants to. Lucy is very territorial with certain things (her Frozen car and PB Anywhere Chair in particular). If I'm holding Cate or have her in my lap she gets furious--this should prove very interesting once #4 arrives... I'm just hoping she's less territorial with a younger, tinier person than she is when I have Cate.

Lucy loves bubbles and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She loves to dance, particularly to this year's VBS CD and the Frozen soundtrack (she sings "Go" for Let it Go). When she picks out books to read, one of them is usually The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Lucy recently dropped down to one nap per day and loves to sleep with her paci and two blankies. She is quite headstrong. Example: Every time we have her little backpack in tow she insists on wearing it no matter how heavy it is. I'm not sure what happened to the supposed laid back third child that everyone talks about?!? Mine is not, but we sure wouldn't trade our Lucy Goosey for anything...
