When we got to Magic Kingdom, we went straight back to the carousel for one last ride. This time, Daddy actually rode a horse and led us on a charge. After the ride, Will and I tried to pull the sword out of the stone. Will didn't quite appreciate the effort it required.
We then went through the New Fantasyland one last time. Jenna got a great shot of the Beast's Castle. It is really amazing to me how they got it to look like it is so far off in the distance...just a little bit more of that Disney magic. We stopped in the shadow of Beast's Castle for some really yummy cinnamon rolls at Gaston's Tavern. These things were huge. There is also a really funny fountain there. We rode the Little Mermaid again, then made our way over toward Dumbo. I haven't posted about it yet, but they recently redid Dumbo. One of the changes they made was to put in an indoor playground area that looks like a circus. When the lines are long, they give you a pager like you get at a restaurant and the kids can play on this playground. It is a great idea and I have a feeling more of the rides at Disney will start getting these play lines. Anyway, the lines hadn't been long enough for us to ever stop and play, but the kids really wanted to before we left. So even though there wasn't a wait, we stopped and played on the circus playground. It was as fun as the kids thought it would be!
After Dumbo, we walked to Tomorrowland for one last ride on Buzz (definitely in Will's top three rides at Disney World). After that, we headed toward Adventureland. But first we had to stop one last time by Cinderella's Castle to chase Jenna's white whale (a family picture). We also tried to get some pictures of the kids with Aunt Sarah. Again, you judge how it went.
We ended up stopping for one last show in front of the Castle. And some popcorn, of course.
We got one last ride on Aladdin's Magic Carpets, then we ate some hot dogs at Casey's Corner (fabulous). We said farewell to Cinderella's Castle and the Magic Kingdom and caught the monorail. The Magic Kingdom truly is the most magical place on earth...
I took the kids back to the hotel for a nap and Jenna and Sarah went straight to Hollywood Studios. I'm not sure what they did exactly, although I know they caught a Little Mermaid show and the Indiana Jones show. The kids and I caught the bus over there and caught up with them. We started by going straight to Toy Story Mania, which was a really fun carnival game-style ride. I won. After that we split up. Jenna and Cate went to go see the Little Mermaid. Sarah, Will, and I went to ride on Star Tours. It changes each time, but our ride started with Darth Vader trying to stop us with the force and then our ship hurtling through space at hyper drive and landing on the wookie planet. Chewbacca got stuck on our windshield and everything. Will didn't like how fast it went and kept saying that Darth Vader made us go too fast, which made him scared. Of course, we come outside and Darth Vader is on stage with the Jedi Academy and Will wants to go take a picture with him. So he wasn't that scared (we didn't get a picture). We all met up for the Beauty and the Beast on stage and then caught Disney Junior Live, which had some of our favorites as puppets--Sofia, Jake, Doc McStuffins, and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang. We didn't get many pictures during this time, but we did snap a couple of our favorite guys (with other people's families).
We grabbed a quick dinner, then caught the Muppets 3D. It was a cute little show. We had a FastPass+ to see Fantasmic (the Hollywood Studios fireworks type show; it has limited seating). But we were getting tired and right outside of Muppets 3D was the Osborne Family Festival of Lights. I have previously mentioned how we were there for the beginning of the Disney World Christmas season. All week long, decorations were going up. Well our last night was the first official night, which means this amazing Christmas lights display was up. The lights were everywhere and were synchronized to music. It was really something to behold, and it was a great way to finish our trip and get ready for the holiday season (pictures don't do it justice).
And with that, we bid farewell to Hollywood Studios.
When we got back to the hotel, it was early enough to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at our hotel (they even pipe in the music). Cate still didn't want to watch from that distance, so I took her back to the room. And with those fireworks, our trip was over. We got up early the next morning and caught the Magical Express back to the airport for our flight home. Cate and Will both got quite the haul of autographs on their picture frames and still have a little room for ones we missed.
It was a wonderful trip....one that I will always remember fondly. And I have begun to count the days until we go back to Disney World!!!!
