Night Terrors and Potty Training--Eeek!

So, a couple nights in a row now Will has experienced night terrors. He has had bad dreams and crying out in his sleep before, but this has been completely different. If you've never experienced a child having a night terror, be thankful. Will has been completely inconsolable, crying, agitated, thrashing about, breathing heavily and sweating, heart racing, sometimes eyes open but it's like he's looking through you, sometimes tears streaming down his face. It is so awful to handle as a parent, but the one saving grace is that he does not remember a thing in the morning. He slept through the night last night, so hopefully this was a two-time thing. We'll see.

In other news, Cate is on her way to being potty trained. About a week ago we started with pull-ups, with the intention of hitting it hard this week while the kids didn't have school. Well, she started out great and had a few days where she stayed dry all day, including during naps. Then she regressed for a few and is now back on it. We are making progress and are not turning back. Besides the fact that she has to be well trained for PK3 in the fall, I would really like her to be well trained for pool time this summer. I've cleaned entirely too many dirty swim diapers--yuck! She has spent the last two days in big girl panties and has stayed dry. Number 2 is a whole other story, but I figure she'll get there, hopefully sooner rather than later. Will has been a great cheerleader for Cate, but despite my effort to give him a lot of praise in other areas, he has made a few comments lately about how he didn't have an accident, he went on the potty, etc. And my best bribe--coins for our piggy banks--has not interested Cate much while Will has been making sure he gets every penny. His get rich scheme has at least required him to start learning his different coins. Cate's best bribe--M&Ms for sure.

One of our first days of potty training--what goes better with a pull-up than a tutu?!?
