Emma Turns Two

On Sunday, Emmy Lou turned the big 2!

Emma's personality has really started to shine these last few months--she is fearless when it comes to pools, playgrounds, and carnival rides. She is still obsessed with Elsa, Anna, and all things Frozen. She will color (especially with markers) for long stretches of time and also enjoys stamps, swinging, and putting puzzles together. She has quite a few words, but also babbles a ton in her cute little raspy voice. She seems to know exactly what she is saying (although we don't have a clue!). She eats pretty much anything, but especially likes hummus, bananas, chips, avocado, Lucky Charms, ranch dressing, whatever I am having for breakfast, and ketchup. When she becomes scared or unsure, she either clings to me (dance recital and loud music) or freezes (lying face down on carpet during ventriloquist show at the library). If Emma is unhappy you will know it--she typically screams/screeches as high and loud as she can (favorite places to do this are in the car, in church, and in the grocery store when we walk by the foods above, particularly Lucky Charms). She loves her MagiClip dolls and princess/barbie dolls and will spend long stretches of time changing their dresses (or asking whoever else is around to do so).

Emma goes to bed pretty easily each night in her toddler bed with her blankie and pink elephant lovey. Once she started climbing out of her crib (before the toddler bed conversion), Billy had to go immediately to Wal-Mart to buy door knob covers to keep her contained. This was never necessary with the others, but she simply would not stay in her room and would instead go play with toys in the playroom (plus I was so afraid she'd scale the baby gate upstairs and fall down the stairs in the middle of the night). I often thought my fourth child was destined to be laid back and easy going since she was #4, but she has proven she is anything but. Instead, she has decided she will not get lost in the mix. She will make herself seen and heard, and for that and so many other reasons, we love her to pieces!
