In the midst of house buying/selling, packing, and everything else that goes with moving a family of 6, we managed to squeeze in a fun and eventful summer in Dallas. Will completed his second year on the KayCee Sharks Swim Team. It was so much fun to see him out there confidant in his swimming abilities. Freestyle is by far his strongest stroke, and he was one of the fastest 7 year old freestylers on the team. He also made lots of improvement on his backstroke and even became "meet ready" with the breaststroke (although the meet he was scheduled to swim it got cancelled mid-meet due to bad weather when he was sitting on the ready bench and ready to go!). If you ask him, the most fun part of being on swim team is probably getting "unlimited" iPad time during the meets themselves. ;-)
After much persuasion (and one of her friends joining), Cate agreed to try swim team out. It was her first year and we are so proud of her for trying something new (and for how strong her swimming skills became). At her first meet she made it across the pool--yay! (see video below) By the end of the summer, she was competing backstroke as well and really improved her freestyle time.
Summer Fun
Two year old tantrum = strip down in the front yard
Boy Scout Camp -- Bug Hunters!
Over the summer this one started walking (right at 10 months)
In June we took our annual Cerny family trip to Schlitterbahn. All four had an awesome time, with the older two gaining (a little) more freedom with their older cousins, Lucy being fearless and trying pretty much everything she was tall enough to try, and Emma refusing to sit and splash and instead constantly walking toward deeper water! The trip was extra special this year since we got to stop in Cedar Park on the way and show the kids the new house!
Over the 4th of July we headed north to Oklahoma for cousin Teddy's baptism. We were honored to serve as his godparents, and the kids had so much fun with their cousins!
Outtake!
Intense father/son bonding over the original Nintendo (Ed. Note: We were playing Double Dragon 2 as a team)
Will and Cate had free tickets to Six Flags from their reading challenge, so we decided to take a quick (and incredibly hot!) trip before the big move. Miss Peggy was nice enough to watch Emma so that Lucy could go too. All three had a blast, but I have to say that Will shocked the heck out of me. Typically a little more risk averse, he not only rode the Titan with Billy (which pulls a few Gs and has a gigantic straight down drop at the beginning), but then turned around and wanted to ride the Texas Giant too!
A little game of tag in the mostly empty house!
A little last day in Dallas family selfie...
